Studying About the Effects of Scary Movies on Children

Fred, my brother’s best friend, is writing a paper about Scary Movies. He is a psychology major and his research is about the effects of watching scary movies in children ages 5 to 9. I was never fond of watching scary movies as a kid. They all gave me the creeps. It gave me nightmares and my dad would scold my brother for letting me watch it with them. I told Fred that if I were his test subject, I would definitely tell him that it didn’t do me well. My brother felt guilty about it. He’s apologetic about the fact that the experience had that effect on me. I never told him about it then and he was learning about it now. I assured my brother that I have put that behind me now and I am now more tolerant with it. I even watch scary movies with my boyfriend once in a while.

What is Conscience?

So many people must sit down at least once in their lives and ponder the big questions like “what is love?” or “is there a god?” or “what is consciousness?” or “what is human nature?” but the biggest question that I reckon people think about has to be about our conscience. Mostly the term conscience would be used to describe the kind of moral guidance that tells what is good and evil. Like if Little Johnny was to push over a kid in the playground at lunchtime and then lie about it when the teacher asked him what had happened then he could be described as having a guilty conscience. It’s kind of like we each have our own conscience telling us what is good. Another good example of our conscience at work is when we know that something is bad even though we may have never learnt about it. A small child will know that you shouldn’t be cruel to animals not because it has been told this by it’s parents but because if it is cruel to a small animal then very soon after it may feel evil and guilty – this is a classic case of the conscience at work. When the child gets older and knows that it has done something wrong and tries to cover it up (because it fears that it will be labelled as evil) then it only adds to the internal voice in the child i.e. Conscience, that is telling it what is good and evil. In most cases if the conscience is at work it will probably be telling the child it is only evil. The child will then not feel so good – this is a classic case of having a guilty conscience. But also we should thank god for our conscience because it is our conscience that makes us do amazingly selfless things like save kittens from treetops and help old ladies across busy intersections and plant lots of trees to try and save the world from pollution and environmental devastation. The number of possible scenarios where our conscience can play a part is basically endless. The United Nations that was obviously set up to try and keep everyone behaving nicely is kind of based on the proviso that every nation does have a conscience that is telling it to behave in a generally cooperative way – but this is basically a joke because it doesn’t account for the fact that some people and countries don’t want to listen their conscience at all. In fact, some countries and the people within those countries are totally committed to avoiding any kind of examination of conscience. But hopefully one-day people and countries will listen to their conscience much more than they currently do.

It also includes the companies or establishments where it is made. Initial distributors or importers and manufacturers (both domestic and foreign) must register their establishments with the Food and Drug Administration. Unless a waiver is issued by the Food and Drug Administration, all establishment registration must be filed electronically. This must be done on an annual basis. Information contained in the registration must be verified annually starting on the first day of October (October 1) and will last until the last day of December (December 31). Also, establishments made registered with the Food and Drug Administration is required to list all the devices and activities made inside the establishment. This is made so that the Food and Drug Administration can easily check the medical devices for its safety and effectiveness.
