As a parent, you have an enormous and important responsibility. In fact, I know of few responsibilities that are as important as raising a child. Through your actions you can make an enormous positive difference, or an enormous negative difference. And so it behoves us parents to think about how we can improve our parenting: how we can be parents that are up to the challenges that our kids (and life in general) throw at us. To help with this, I have compiled three separate tips, that will especially help the parent of young children.
Tip #1: Reduce the risk of SIDS with this lifesaving device.
SIDS is a real and present danger for newborn babies (and for older babies as well). It is a silent killer, that we don’t yet know the cause of. However, there are a number of important things that you can do to reduce the risk of SIDS. One of these is to invest in some technology that will monitor your child’s breathing whilst they (and you!) sleep. This particular piece of technology is known as the Angelcare AC401. It is simply a pressure sensitive mat that you place underneath your child’s mattress, and it is linked to a portable monitor that you carry around with you, or place by your bed. If ever your child were to stop breathing, the monitor would go off, and you would be alerted in time to save your child. This is one device that is well worth checking out!
Tip #2: Get your toddler sleeping through the night.
It is important for the sake of mental and physical (not to mention emotional) health that you get your toddler to sleep through the night. Easier said than done, I hear you say! Well, there is now a device that you can use to train your child to not only sleep through the night, but also to wake up at a more reasonable time. This device is the Gro Clock Sleep Trainer. It is a very simple but effective clock-like device that you set to send your child to sleep at a certain time, and then wake up at a certain time. When it is time to sleep, your child sees the clock face change to a blue coloured star. And when it is time to wake up, your child sees a yellow coloured sun, that lets them know they can now get up. This device has worked for thousands of parents, and it will more than likely work for you too!
Tip #3: Ensure your baby gets the right amount of external stimulation.
Stimulation is something that babies crave, and for good reason. As their brains are growing and developing, stimulation, in the form of music, speech, cuddles, and different sights, all help with that brain-growth. There are many ways to provide such stimulation (and most of the time it comes naturally to parents), but one device that provides this stimulation is the Fisher-Price Rainforest Gym. This is simply a mat that you put baby down onto, and it provides them with fascinating sights and sounds that they can look at, in the form of fluffy animals and melodies. It really is a device that stimulates well!
