According to ST Micro Electronics officials, the team up is set to develop a new motion and orientation Human Interface Device. This innovation HID sensor solution will be launched alongside the Windows 8. ST Microelectronics reveals that they will conduct a demonstration during the planned Microsoft BUILD conference. STMicroelectronics joins forces with Microsoft in order to find a breakthrough sensor solution for the integration of a number of different sensors that have processing abilities and dedicated software. All these will be packed in a single module for the many ST Micro distributors to deploy.
ST Micro will work closely with the Windows maker to make sure that the sensors will run smoothly on the Windows 8. ST Micro Electronics will utilize the iNEMO Engine for this project. In a separate statement released by executives, the new sensor solutions will bring plug-and-play, turn-key benefits for the new Microsoft OS. Furthermore, they will deliver for both x86 and ARM processors. With this development, STMicroelectronics believes that manufacturers no longer have to develop drivers for the Windows 8. What’s more, end users will be able to enjoy using the Windows 8 even more. ST Micro distributors are quite sure that consumers will take interest in the new operating system once it is launched.

ST Micro is far from done this 2011. Fresh from its announcement regarding the team up with Microsoft, St Micro Electronics announced its plans of strengthening its place in the NFC market with a new Android application. The leading chipset vendor released the new app which is said to be compatible with the M24LR64 wireless memory chip. According to ST Microelectronics, the new Android app will allow users to interact with a broad range of electronic devices using their smartphones. STMicroelectronics’ breakthrough will now enable the people to communicate with home appliances, medical devices, meters, and consumer electronic products. That is why industry insiders believe that the company and the many ST Micro distributors will remain strong players in the market this year.
