Free Insurance Quotes — Avoid Flood-Prone Regions

There are certain things that do NOT have to do with your homeowners’ policy on their own but are still very important considerations. They are considered very important because the affect the value and well being of your home. So even though you don’t have them included in a regular home policy, they are often mandatory if you want to get money from any mortgagor.

You, therefore, can’t afford to ignore them if you are really concerned about getting very cheap free insurance quotes. They can add a lot of cost to you. But thankfully, you can actually take steps to ensure you do NOT find yourself in a situation where you’ll ever need such mandatory extras.

Here’s one good example: Avoid buying a home in flood-prone regions. Your regular home insurance policy does NOT cover flood. Now, don’t mistake flood issues with water liability claims. If you don’t understand the difference between the two, then pay close attention…

If your home is overflooded due to a broken faucet, then you can file a claim for water damage. That should be covered if you got the right home policy. However, if your home is flooded because a nearby river overflowed its banks, you typical home insurance policy would NOT cover that. You’ll need flood insurance to handle that.

That said, I’d strongly recommend that you spend some time with your agent and get clarification on this in details. This is because many folks only discover which is which when they go to file a claim for water damage.

So back to what I was trying to explain: No mortgagor would consider your home fully insured without flood insurance if it is in a flood-prone region. So what should you do? Well, unless you do NOT have any other option but to live in such a region, I’d advise that you look for a home in an area that does NOT have this type of issue.

Take note: If you buy a home in this type of area, you’ll be compelled to spend about $400 more to get flood insurance (This doesn’t help you in particular if you are look for very affordable homeowners insurance). Count in the inconvenience associated with flooding and you’ll agree with me that this kind of situation is best avoided.
